The Statement Issued By
The Committee On Arab And Foreign Affairs
And National Security
On

The American Threats to Strike Iraque
And
President Mubark's initiative to declare the Middle East A mass destruction Weapons free zone

-
As it backs the determined efforts exerted by President Mohamed Hosny Mubarak to achieve  stability and  security in the region and his continual attitudes that imply absolute rejection to endanger any Arab  country.

- And as it hails the firm Egyptian attitude and its commitment to the primary attitudes towards the axioms of the  Arab issues most important of which the unity and stability issues of the  Arab countries and on top of which the Palestinian cause, securing just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the  Middle East,  lifting blockade off Iraque and  its territorial unity as well as ending the suffering of the  brotherly people of Iraque together with the unity of the brotherly Sudanese people and their territorial unity.

- And as it lauds the Arab attitude firmly rejecting any strike against Iraque out of safeguarding the safety of the Iraqui people and their territorial unity and the Arab and Regional National Security.

- And as it warns against the disastrous consequences that will be resulted from militarily striking Iraque with all the grave material and human damages and that will shake the credibility of the U.N. and endanger the relations of the U.S.A. with many of the world countries rejecting this strike and it will also lead to a popular fury that could result in chaos in the region.

The Committee; therefore, confirms the following:

- War against Iraque is not justified as implementing international resolutions is an international affair in the framework of the United Nations. Also, changing government systems is a concern of peoples and  nobody other than Iraquis has the right to demand a change in the government system. Thus, solving the Iraqui issue is to take place in the framework of the U.N. Security Council and General Assembly.

- Striking Iraque will lead to the loss of the Iraqui people's abilities and achievements and to more suffering of the people.

- The importance of intensively moving on all regional and international levels so as to reach an ultimate peaceful resolution to the Iraqui crisis in the framework of :

 ·    International Legitimacy represented in the U.N.

·    Non-interference in the internal affairs of any country

·    Safeguarding the unity and stability of Iraque

·    Putting an end to the suffering of the Iraqui people

·    The return of the International Inspection Commission to Iraque

- The U.S.A., with all the determined attempts to find reasons to strike Iraque, raises a lot of question marks before the international community that is not, so far, convinced with any of these justifications that give no explanation but Israel's interests even though against those of America.

- Preventing Iraque from producing mass destruction weapons, though a seemingly acceptable justification, completely loses its credibility with all the American support to the immense Israeli military arsenal that produces and accumulates all sorts of mass destruction weapons whether nuclear, chemical or biological.

- Seeing that it is a must for Iraque to accept the return of the inspectors to protect the Iraqui people by letting pass the chance of any forged or justified pretexts to attack Iraque, the Committee does assert that the question of mass-destruction weapons is not only related to Iraque but to all the countries of the region headed by Israel with all its possession of weapons that represent a real grave danger directly threatening the whole region. Thus, the international  community is to urgently respond to President Mubarak's call on April 5, 1990 to declare the Middle East a Mass-destruction weapons Free Zone which has become an urgent question dictating on the U.N. to ensure the international justice principle by applying to Israel all the measures applied to other countries.
