The Tragic Accident Resulting In The Fall Of Three Martyrs Of The Egyptian Police In Rafah

On Tuesday November 23rd, 2004 and chaired by Ambassador Mohamed Basyoni, Chairman of the Committee on Arab and Foreign Affairs and National Security, the committee  held its meeting to discuss the tragic accident that resulted in the fall of three martyrs of the Egyptian police in Rafah while safeguarding Egypt’s borders. The meeting was attended by Chairmen and Bureaus of the Specific Committees as well as representatives of the political parties.  The committee asserted the following points:

- The committee denounces the accident and expresses its total rejection of such irresponsible actions that can seriously aggravate situations in the region.

-The committee expresses its deep sorrow for the fall of the three Egyptian martyrs and presents its consolation to the families of the three martyrs who lost their lives while safeguarding our homeland.

- The committee demands the Israeli Government to complete without delay its investigations and to disclose the accident’s circumstances and to take deterrent measures conformable with the gravity of the accident and warns that repeating such actions may lead to undesirable consequences.

- The committee gravely condemns the irresponsible statements of the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations and Security of the Israeli Kenest that include obvious lies and false information about smuggling weapons across the Egyptian borders so as to cast blame on the country that ever respected the peace agreement since concluded in 1979.

- Israel must be aware that its real security lies in its carrying out all its obligations and the pacts it signed and it also must undertake its responsibility in preserving peace and security.

- This accident took place while Egypt is exerting determined efforts to break the current stalemate in the peaceful drive and to stop the unprecedented Israeli violence against the Palestinian People and to let the Palestinians out of the bottleneck and restore their legal national rights and their right to establish their independent state.

-This accident has proved the Egyptian viewpoint calling for the Israeli withdrawal from all the Palestinian occupied lands particularly Salah El Din Axis (Filadelfy) so as not to repeat such an accident.

-  The committee lauds the wise, decisive and immediate handling of the situation taken by the Egyptian political and diplomatic leadership headed by President Hosny Mubarak.
